Resume Format
A resume consists of a list of major headings with accomplishments under each. The accomplishments can be a bulleted list or in paragraph form. The material under the headings should include accomplishments which prove each skill. The most common ingredients of a well-written resume are as follows.

The Mandatory Basics
A good way to start your resume is by naming your objective. For example it could include what you would like to get from the job you are applying for, while also naming the experience you will be contributing.

      I. Personal Information- Your name, address, and phone number (immediately identifiable and at the top of the first page).

II. Educational Experience- Includes the highest degree received, in reverse chronological order, with dates. [Read more]

III. Professional Experience- A listing of all jobs held since beginning your career, in reverse chronological work history order, with dates. [Read more]

VI. Skills and Abilites- A listing of skills or accomplishments or a combination of both, e.g. languages, computer skills, affiliations, etc.

Ordering of Experience and Education sections

Experience sections should come first, before education, in most every case. This is because you have more qualifications developed from your experience than from your education.

The exceptions would be

      1) if you have just received or are completing a degree in a new professional field, if this new degree study proves stronger qualifications than does your work experience,
      2) lawyers, who have the professional tradition of listing their law degrees first,
      3) an undergraduate student, or
      4) someone who has just completed a particularly impressive degree from a particularly impressive school, even if they are staying in the same field, for example, a MBA from Harvard.
